How We Cover the City

People see “Brooklyn” in our name and ask whether we’ll come to their borough. We will. Brooklyn Sidewalk Shed and Scaffolding has run out of Brooklyn since 2004, and our crews go wherever the building is. Find your borough below, or just call us with the address.

Brooklyn

Home base. Back in 2019 we put up a sidewalk shed at 136 Chester Ave, Brooklyn, NY 11218. Brooklyn work runs from quiet rowhouse blocks to crowded shopping streets, and our page on scaffolding in Brooklyn goes through both.

Manhattan

In 2025 we installed scaffolding at 2 Park Ave, New York, NY 10016. That's a 1928 Art Deco office tower in Murray Hill and a designated city landmark. It also sits inside the part of Midtown where DOT limits street work every holiday season. Our page on scaffolding in Manhattan covers both.

The Bronx

In 2021 we handled scaffolding rental on the 2400 block of Cambreleng Ave in Belmont, Bronx, NY 10458. It’s a mixed block near East 187th Street, with an early-1900s walk-up next to small frame houses. Read about scaffolding in the Bronx, or see the projects in our gallery.

Queens

Yes to Queens. Scaffolds, sheds, barriers and temporary fencing, all of it, from the same crew we send everywhere else. See scaffolding in Queens.

Staten Island

Yes to Staten Island. We work there on occupied buildings, and on new construction sites that need fencing and barriers before anything goes up. See scaffolding on Staten Island.

Working in Queens or Staten Island? Send us the address, and we’ll plan it like any other job.

The Same Rules in Every Borough

A shed permit in the Bronx works the same way as one in Queens. The NYC Department of Buildings and NYC DOT set the rules for the whole city, and nothing changes at a borough line. What a particular job needs still depends on the work and the site.

Scaffold and shed filings go through the DOB’s DOB NOW: Build system. Street and sidewalk permits come from DOT through NYCStreets. Construction fence rules are citywide too.

So the real differences come from the street itself. A narrow residential block in Brooklyn, a high-rise over a packed Manhattan sidewalk and an open lot on a Staten Island corridor each need a different layout under the same code. Our shed page explains sidewalk shed permits.

One Team, Every Borough

Most jobs need more than one thing. A facade job might need a scaffold, a shed over the sidewalk, barriers at the curb and a fence around the materials. We can do all four on the same frontage, so you’re not lining up four vendors and hoping they talk to each other. The people who build it come back to take it down. Our crews are OSHA-trained and hold NASP/SSS and NYC Site Safety Training credentials.

FAQ

Service Area Questions

Yes. The DOB and DOT write one set of rules for all of New York City, so scaffold, shed and street permits follow the same rules whether the building is in Manhattan or on Staten Island. The borough doesn't change the code. The building, the street and the foot traffic change the plan.
