Scaffolding and Sheds for Queens Buildings

Yes, the name says Brooklyn. That doesn’t stop us crossing into Queens. Need a scaffold for facade work, a shed over the sidewalk, barriers along the curb or a fence around a site? We do all of it here, the same as anywhere else.

Co-op and condo boards call us. So do property managers, owners and contractors. The first conversation always covers three things: the address, the work, and when it has to start.

Where We Work in Queens

Anywhere in the borough. Queens has almost every kind of building the city has. Detached and semi-attached houses, rowhouses, garden apartments, prewar elevator buildings, newer towers along the big boulevards.

  • If the work is above a public sidewalk, you’ll likely need sidewalk shed installation to protect people walking underneath.
  • Apartment buildings with flat facades are usually a job for frame scaffolding.
  • Setbacks, cornices and projections suit pipe scaffolding, which can follow the shape of the wall.
  • A construction site that needs a secure perimeter calls for temporary fencing rental.

Not sure which one fits your building? Send the address and a photo of the front, and we’ll tell you.

DOT Embargoes on Queens Streets

As of November 2026.

The holiday embargo

In Queens, DOT’s Holiday Construction Embargo covers November 15, 2026, through January 2, 2027, from 6 AM to 11:59 PM each day. A few of the listed locations: Queens Boulevard and Northern Boulevard for their entire length, Roosevelt Avenue from Queens Boulevard to Union Street, Main Street from Northern Boulevard to Union Turnpike, and downtown Flushing inside Northern Boulevard, Sanford Avenue, Prince Street and Union Street.

For those seven weeks, DOT suspends routine work in the street and on the sidewalk under its permits unless its Office of Construction Mitigation and Coordination approves it. Emergency work needs a DOT emergency number. DOT’s full embargo list has every location.

The NYC Marathon also brings temporary construction restrictions along its Queens route toward the Queensboro Bridge. The 2026 restrictions ended on November 1.

If your building is on one of the listed boulevards, timing is the real question. Putting up a scaffold or shed during the embargo means waiting on DOT’s review, so the cleanest options are installing before November 15 or starting after January 2. Send the address, and we’ll check it against DOT’s list.

Job on Queens Boulevard, Northern Boulevard or in downtown Flushing? DOT’s holiday embargo starts November 15.

Same Permits as Every Borough

Queens follows the same citywide DOB and DOT requirements as the other boroughs. In plain terms, DOB handles the building and the scaffold, and DOT handles anything on the street or sidewalk.

  • Shed permits issued or renewed since early 2026 only last 90 days now. The exception is a shed tied to new-building, enlargement or demolition work.
  • Over 40 feet, a supported scaffold needs a DOB permit. Some shorter ones need one too, depending on the type and how much weight they carry.

One Team Across the Boroughs

We’re a Brooklyn-based contractor working in all five boroughs. On a Queens job, one team builds the scaffold, shed, barriers and fence, and the same team takes them apart later. You won’t be stuck coordinating three vendors on one frontage.
