Brooklyn Sidewalk Shed and Scaffolding installed scaffolding at 2 Park Avenue, a 28-story Art Deco landmark in Murray Hill, in 2025.
Planning work on an older Manhattan building?
2 Park Avenue is a 28-story office tower. Ely Jacques Kahn of Buchman & Kahn designed it, and it went up between 1926 and 1928. The Landmarks Preservation Commission made it a New York City landmark on April 18, 2006.
Tan brick faces the walls above a stone base. Terra cotta panels in blue, red, green, yellow and black mark the upper floors of each section, and the tower steps back above the 17th floor and again above the 25th. The commission calls it “one of the most beautiful and distinctive office towers of the Art Deco period.” The LPC designation report covers the architecture in full.
In 2025 we installed pipe scaffolding along the Park Avenue and side-street elevations of 2 Park Avenue, rising 29 stories. It stood 8 months for facade repairs and repointing. A sidewalk shed went up with it to keep the sidewalk open and safe for pedestrians during the work. We filed the DOB permit before installation started.
